So I’ve been taking a break from blogging as I’m planning our wedding that will take place in um….22 days. OMG. The major things are taken care of, so when I saw this evening was going to have a great sunset, I called up my photographer friend Cara and we went looking for light!

She wanted updated photos for her website, but really…amazing light makes me so giddy and act like a little girl on Christmas morning. This was one of those evenings! I’m back to using my 50mm f/1.4 lens because I just love the wide open aperture and blurry backgrounds. I played around with having the sun behind Cara as well as to her right…and then with a white reflector.¬†Either way you have it, I highly recommend taking ANY photo these days between the times of 7-7:30pm. Find some light and play around with where you stand when you shoot your subject. If you have kids, see if you can keep them up and happy enough to grab some shots of them at this time of day!

Shooting for fun and for free every now and then takes the pressure off and allows me to refine my skills and reminds me that the joy in capturing the true beauty of a friend is so inspiring and life giving.

Happy Weekend!
